FEMALES ABOUT MUSIC

Females About Music (FAM) is a new CIC founded by Javina Greene, Beyoncé Gowe and Precious Waite. This female led initiative was designed to empower women and girls who have faced a confluence of challenges, including sexual and racial injustice, substance abuse, socioeconomic disadvantage, and lack of opportunities in the music industry. By harnessing the therapeutic power of music and providing comprehensive support services, FAM aims to break down barriers, foster personal growth, and create pathways to success in the music industry and beyond.

In 2023 Females About Music began monthly audio engineering training for women at GRS, addressing the barriers that many women particularly marginalised black women face in the music industry.

With the support of Grosvenor Studios and Black Voices they have created a safe space for women offering studio time, opportunities to collaborate and financial aid in a supportive community. During this time the collective of women that they support has grown from 5 to over 70. FAM recently secured funding from Arts Council England to offer an additional monthly audio engineering session. For more information about the sessions please email: femalesaboutmusic@gmail.com
